Modern laser technology can deliver smoother, younger-looking skin, without the invasiveness of a facelift. Erbium laser skin resurfacing is able to minimise the appearance of lines and wrinkles, reduce uneven skin tone, firm and tighten skin and improve the overall texture of the skin at the same time. The Erbium laser can precisely excise unwanted skin growths and lesions and remodel skin.
How does the treatment work?
Laser resurfacing works by having laser light precisely removing damaged skin layers, so that the laser energy is absorbed by sun damaged collagen lying beneath the sun damaged skin surface. This delicate vaporisation of very fine layers of skin reduces the presence of wrinkles, scars, and other unwanted texture changes by stimulating the healing skin to generate a layer of healthy new collagen. As old skin is replaced by new cells formed in the healing process, the skin naturally becomes smoother and softer.
This same precision involved in cell removal allows this laser to be used to surgically remove many unwanted skin growths and even superficial skin cancers, with minimal down time and very low risk of any scar or mark. This laser is ideal to precisely remove the early skin cancer changes of the lips (so common in New Zealand) known as actinic cheilitis.
The ability to sculpt the skin surface and tighten skin makes it an ideal laser to use to recontour the skin surface and remove and remodel skin scarring, including severe acne scarring.
